Welcome!
My name is Elias Schuster, a digital journalist born and raised in a north-side suburb of Chicago called Vernon Hills. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2019, where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism.
Since leaving college, I have worked as a full-time lead writer and content creator for the popular Chicago-centric sports media outlet Bleacher Nation. My time there has been spent building their coverage of the Chicago Bulls and NBA from the ground up. The experience of watching page views rise and social engagement blossom has been extremely rewarding. We've neared nearly 100,000 followers across our Bulls-specific social platforms alone.
I've written over 5,000+ posts during my time with Bleacher Nation. Not only has this further enhanced my writing and editing skills, but it's given me great insight into the type of content people are looking to consume. Through transparency, attention to detail, educated analysis, and a few fun jokes, BN Bulls has developed an audience that only continues to grow.
Throughout my college years, I participated heavily in The Daily Illini. I served as the Sports Editor during my senior year, previously working as the sports video editor for the publication. All four years I covered Fighting Illini football and basketball extensively. In that position, I had been awarded first and third place in the state for sports front page, as well as awarded a top-three sports column in the state. I also served as a multimedia specialist for both the College of Media and the College of Engineering at the University.
